How to get more Twitter followers?

So I'm wondering, how I can increase my twitter followers. Anyone have lots of tips??? or links?

I try to find people to meet, and be friends with them and grow my network, but it can be difficult.

What method have you found that works?

Well I've gotten ID's twitter account close to 300 which is up from 200 in about...2 days?

I go through other people's followers looking for who has a low ratio of following -> followers. (lots of followers while following very few = high ratio) So I look for those with a ratio close to 1 and just go through a bunch of those people and watch them. To find these people I look at the current page I'm on and look at who they are following. The person who has the best twitter icon (sticks out the most from the group of followers) tends to watch others back. So I continue clicking the best icon, look at their ratio, and decide whether or not to watch them.

Then it's wash rinse repeat for the most part...and it's worked well so far.

Yes conversation is good, but don't go tooooo fast (it may alert spammers), and make sure you talk to some people while you're adding people.

The secret is getting conversations going with people.

No you talk, and then you add, makes it more likely the guy actually listens to your crap.

I see a lot of twitter people who say the most uninteresting things... sometimes I wanna unfollow them.

You can use some of the internet marketing tools. It will let you spread widely your twitter account in a time. Just like what my friend did.

If you want to get more watchers that actually mean something (not just a high number by following tons of people who don't read what you post) you can follow the followers of popular sites in your category. For example, if you're a site who makes tutorials for photoshop, go follow all the followers of psdtut's twitter account. When they see you followed them, most of them will look at what you post - perhaps your site, and if they like what you post, they'll follow back. That will give you a genuine follower.

I think the best way is to constantly talk directly to certain people about their tweets, to get them as followers etc.

I guess that's good if you want like 5 followers, but good luck getting a lot. Relationships take too long to form
